Luis Suarez has been named the PFA Player of the Year.
The
Uruguayan front man, who plies his trade with current EPL leaders
Liverpool, sits on top of the scorer’s charts with 30 league goals to
his name.
The 27-year-old's goal haul played a
huge role in firing Liverpool towards what could be the club's first
league title in 24 years.
Though Suarez started
off the season by serving the remainder of a 10-game suspension after
biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic last term, he produced top
performance that also saw him claim 30 goals and 12 assists – the most
in the Premier League.
If Suarez scores in any of
the two remaining EPL games, he stands a chance of equalling or
bettering Cristiano Ronaldo and Alan Shearer's joint record of 31 goals
in a 38-game season.
This is an impressive turn-around for a player who courted trouble and was often the villain last time around.
